Choosing a polyurethane sealant manufacturer is not simply a matter of comparing unit prices or selecting the supplier with the largest online catalogue. Polyurethane is a broad product family. A self-leveling material for a horizontal concrete expansion joint, a waterproof coating for a basement, a two-component adhesive for a window corner, an automotive glass adhesive, an insulating-glass secondary sealant, a battery-pack structural adhesive, and a wood-floor adhesive may all be described as polyurethane, but they are not interchangeable products.
A reliable manufacturer and supplier should therefore be evaluated against the buyer’s actual application. The supplier must be able to provide the appropriate formulation, current technical documentation, product-specific test evidence, suitable packaging, stable production, and technical support for validation. This article presents a practical framework for evaluating a polyurethane sealant supplier for construction, infrastructure, automotive, glass, flooring, industrial, OEM and new-energy applications.
1. Start With the Application, Not the Product Name
The first question is not “Which PU sealant do you sell?” It is “What must the material do in the finished product or structure?” A supplier should ask about the substrate, joint or bond geometry, orientation, movement, exposure, curing environment, installation process, service temperature, expected volume and applicable standards.

A supplier that treats all of these products as one generic “PU glue” category is not giving the buyer enough technical guidance.
